the
nature of cosmic dreams
- they
transmit a direct experience of self and world
as participants in a totality
- they point beyond personal concerns to events and issues
facing humans as a whole
- they reflect us back to ourselves as belonging to both nature
and humanity and so help us face areas of estrangement
from self, others, and nature
- by awakening us to our link with nature and other beings,
cosmic dreams promote empathy and are an invaluable
resource in global healing
"The dream is a little hidden
door in the innermost and secret recesses of the
soul, opening into that cosmic night which was
psyche long before there was any ego
consciousness, and which will remain psyche no
matter how far our ego consciousness extends.
... All consciousness separates; but in dreams
we put on the likeness of that more universal,
truer, more eternal man dwelling in the darkness
of primordial night. There he is still the
whole, and the whole is in him,
indistinguishable from nature and bare of all
egohood. It is from these all-uniting depths
that the dream arises, be it never so childish,
grotesque, and immoral." ~ Carl G. Jung
